In a significant humanitarian gesture, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has decreed the release of 836 prisoners from Dubai’s correctional facilities. This decision comes as a compassionate move ahead of the Islamic holiday, Eid Al Adha.
The initiative by Sheikh Mohammed is seen as an effort to bring joy to the families of those incarcerated and to provide the released individuals with a fresh start in life. It underscores his commitment to supporting social reintegration by offering these individuals a chance to reestablish themselves within the community.
Dubai’s Attorney General, Chancellor Essam Issa Al Humaidan, stated that the Dubai Public Prosecution is working in conjunction with Dubai Police to implement the necessary legal procedures following the order. This collaboration ensures that the process of releasing the prisoners is carried out smoothly and efficiently.
The decision to pardon the prisoners highlights a broader approach towards rehabilitation and societal harmony, reflecting the values of forgiveness and new beginnings associated with Eid Al Adha. The move is expected to positively impact the lives of those released as well as their families, fostering a spirit of hope and renewal.
