On Tuesday, residents of the United Arab Emirates were urged to find shelter following reports of missile and drone activity linked to Iran in the region. The alert was issued by the Ministry of Defence alongside the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) early in the morning at approximately 6:30 a.m. Officials advised the public to move to safe locations until further instructions were provided. The situation was resolved shortly thereafter with an all-clear signal.
NCEMA later reassured the public that no missiles had breached UAE territory. The alert was communicated as a precautionary measure, with authorities noting that the probability of an actual impact was minimal. Despite the low risk, the warning underscored rising regional tensions and ongoing concerns about security in the Gulf.
Simultaneously, Qatar and Bahrain were also on high alert, having activated their emergency protocols following the interception of Iranian projectiles. Qatari authorities reported that the debris from the intercepted projectiles injured three individuals, including a child.
These developments come amid heightened tensions in the region, particularly concerning the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s recent claim of having completely closed the strategic waterway has added to fears of potential disruptions in global oil and gas supply chains.
