Dubai is poised for a significant transformation as Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum unveils an ambitious Dh2.1 trillion project pipeline aimed at propelling the emirate’s economic growth. This extensive portfolio spans key sectors such as real estate, transport, aviation, energy, and infrastructure, reinforcing Dubai’s status as a global business and investment hub.
At the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Forum held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Sheikh Mohammed outlined the strategy to create a “city within a city,” with more projects anticipated in the future. A substantial portion of the investment, Dh1.1 trillion, is earmarked for real estate development through 2030. This will include the construction of approximately 350,000 residential units to meet the demands of a burgeoning population.
Aviation is set to receive a significant boost with Dh128 billion allocated to Al Maktoum International Airport, aiming to accommodate up to 260 million passengers annually. Additional investments include Dh328 billion for expanding the Emirates and flydubai fleets, and Dh18.7 billion for a new Emirates engineering and maintenance complex.
Infrastructure projects are also a priority, with Dh100 billion dedicated to road improvements and the expansion of the Dubai Metro Blue and Gold lines. The emirate plans to invest Dh151 billion in electricity and water network expansions and another Dh80 billion in the Dubai Strategic Sewerage Tunnels system.
Financial services will see a Dh100 billion investment in the second phase of the Dubai International Financial Centre, bolstering the sector and enhancing international business infrastructure. Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the importance of forward-thinking investment to meet future demand, highlighting strategic planning, infrastructure development, and leadership as pivotal to Dubai’s continued success.
The comprehensive project pipeline underscores Dubai’s commitment to expanding housing, improving transport connectivity, enhancing aviation capacity, and diversifying its economy. These initiatives are expected to attract further international investment and solidify the emirate’s global economic standing.
