The United Arab Emirates has embarked on a significant nationwide initiative aimed at garnering support and allegiance for President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This initiative, titled “Pledge and Commitment,” seeks to acknowledge his pivotal role in bolstering the UAE’s security, stability, and international stature. Spearheaded by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the campaign was unveiled at a grand event held at the Abu Dhabi Energy Centre, which was attended by over 4,800 individuals, including citizens, residents, students, investors, academics, and business leaders.
This campaign is designed to underscore the President’s contributions to the nation’s development and is structured around four central tenets: fostering unity and coexistence, emulating leadership values, enhancing civic responsibility and national identity, and expressing gratitude for the country’s prosperity and stability. Following its initial launch, the initiative expanded its reach online through a dedicated website and QR code, enabling widespread digital participation across the UAE.
Organizers of the campaign have outlined plans for its continuation through collaborations with companies, universities, and community organizations. This will be complemented by multilingual online engagement and public events, ensuring broad-based involvement. The initiative emerges in the wake of recent national solidarity, prompted by regional security tensions earlier this year, which saw a surge in patriotic expressions throughout the country, including the raising of UAE flags at homes, offices, and public buildings.
The core of the pledge is an expression of loyalty and support for President Sheikh Mohamed, recognizing him as a guardian of the nation’s security and a catalyst for progress. It portrays him as a paragon of dedication and service to the country. Participants who commit to the pledge online receive a digital certificate of appreciation, which they can download and share, symbolizing their commitment and support.
