Etihad Rail’s newly launched passenger service connecting Abu Dhabi and Fujairah is already making significant strides in enhancing tourism, local commerce, and regional connectivity within the UAE. One month into its operation, the two-hour journey between the emirates has witnessed high demand, with numerous trains running at full capacity. This surge in passenger interest is translating into tangible benefits for nearby businesses.
Car rental agencies situated around Abu Dhabi’s Mohamed bin Zayed City Station have observed a noticeable uptick in customer engagement. Similarly, hotels in Fujairah are enjoying a boost in occupancy rates, driven by the increased influx of visitors. To complement the rail service and ensure seamless travel experiences, new bus routes have been established, enhancing last-mile connectivity for passengers.
Looking ahead, Etihad Rail is committed to progressively expanding its passenger network. The next phase of this ambitious project is on track to include the opening of stations in Dubai and Sharjah on September 30. This development is set to further bolster the mobility landscape within the UAE, linking more regions and fostering economic growth.
Following the openings in Dubai and Sharjah, the network will continue to extend its reach with the inauguration of stations in Madinat Zayed and Liwa on November 30. These efforts are part of a broader vision to strengthen the nation’s transportation infrastructure, thereby supporting broader economic and developmental goals across the country.
