In a notable development for Arab stock markets, trading activity surged in July, marked by a 28.82% increase in the volume of shares traded compared to the previous month. This uptick brought the total trading volume to 261.86 billion shares, a significant rise from June’s 203.27 billion shares. The Iraq Stock Exchange played a key role in this increase, followed closely by the Egyptian market.
Despite the robust trading activity, the overall value of transactions experienced a downturn, declining by 16.82% to $90.24 billion in July from $108.48 billion in June. This decrease was observed across several major markets, including those in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait.
The performance of regional stock markets presented a mixed picture. Among them, Egypt’s EGX30 index stood out as one of the top performers, achieving a gain of 5.85% during the month. Several other regional exchanges also recorded positive movements, reflecting varied market conditions across the region.
Meanwhile, the combined market capitalization of Arab stock exchanges remained relatively steady, witnessing a slight increase of 0.06% to approximately $4.31 trillion. This stability in market capitalization, despite fluctuating transaction values and mixed market performance, highlights the dynamic nature of trading activities in the region.
These figures underscore the heightened trading activity across Arab stock markets in July, even as the value of transactions saw a dip and performance varied among key equity markets in the region.
