The United Arab Emirates is making significant strides in integrating artificial intelligence into education and governance. A newly approved curriculum will introduce AI fundamentals to students across all public and private schools, focusing on data, algorithms, applications, risks, and ethical considerations. Alongside this, the UAE plans to upskill 22,000 teachers and educators, equipping them to incorporate AI into various aspects of teaching, from assessment to lesson planning. This initiative underscores the emphasis placed by UAE Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid on educators continually updating their skills to prepare students for the challenges of the future.
In parallel with educational reforms, the UAE Cabinet has greenlit an AI advisory system aimed at aiding ministers in policy review and strategy formulation. This system, which employs 32 specialized AI assistants, will analyze policy proposals, evaluate their impact, and study international best practices to provide informed recommendations aligned with the UAE’s national goals. This initiative marks a significant move towards leveraging AI for enhancing governance and policy-making efficiency.
Another landmark decision by the Cabinet involves regulations for autonomous vehicles. The new framework will detail procedures for testing, inspecting, registering, and licensing self-driving cars in the UAE. This move is part of a broader strategy to promote cleaner transportation solutions and alleviate traffic congestion, reflecting the UAE’s commitment to technological advancement and environmental sustainability.
Furthermore, the government has reported notable achievements in digital transformation, as evidenced by the completion of hundreds of millions of digital transactions through government services in the past year. Numerous digital transformation initiatives have been successfully implemented, marking impressive progress in the UAE’s journey towards a digitally empowered future.
In addition to technological advancements, the UAE Cabinet has approved the National Ecotourism Policy and reviewed ongoing efforts under the National Strategy to Combat Desertification 2022–2030. These initiatives focus on protecting ecosystems, rehabilitating land, and conserving native vegetation, highlighting the UAE’s dedication to sustainable environmental practices and ecological preservation.
